I was doing a bit of tellering today at a local library being used as a polling station. Anyway I saw this poster and wondered by this racism is apparently ok. It is apparently called "positive action" how can discrimination be "Positive"?
There's no such thing as positive discrimination unless you are referring to discrimination as to whether someone is capable of doing a job, or not. The term is merely used to try to pretend someone's unacceptable discrimination is ok after all; which actually fools some ! Note though that the poster doesn't say lighter skinned folk can not apply, it merely...
// perlease! get real we both know the reasons me old china.//
Just the usual box ticking exercise to please the H.O. They have quotas to fill. They are flogging a dead as usual. This is not the first occasion that police or fire brigade have tried to recruit ethnic, female or gay only personnel. My white heterosexual son was victim of this policy over about five years with both emergency services about 15 years ago. I recall there was a post about this policy on this site then. He eventually gave up bothering and joined Barclays bank. Very wise move in hindsight
Dorset Police can't afford to be picky. I have had a house in Burton for the last 10years. I'm going there this coronation weekend to see my grand daughters and son. I have never seen a police officer of any race, colour, creed or gender. I reckon the large police station in Christchurch is an abandoned folly.
If I was a victim of crime and wanted assistance, the copper could be a Samoan one-legged lesbian pygmy for all I care, and I’d like to think most people are the same, but as suggested in this thread, if some people would prefer somebody of their own ‘type’ to assist them, I’d say they’re being discriminatory.
I doubt very much that tv adverts represent the true demographic representation of the population. They are mostly black actors, hardly any whites represented at all.
