Light bulb blown-need to flick switch in garage-electric garage door will not open?

Yes funny situation but not when you are without light to most of you house.

Well as I said the bulb blew so I went outside to the garage to the fuse box but the garage door would not open. I have a remote for the garage and when I press it I can have a noise like the door motor is working - so there is electric to it. But the door refuses to open. I have two keys that say 'emergency garage doors keys' one standard (flat front door like) (shub?) key and one other key with fits on a circular/ring shaped hole - the key hole is shaped like the symbol you have for 'power on/standby on electrical items.

Any way I turn both keys the flat one like a normal front door key went in and turned, and the second when turned and pulled came away from the door attacted to a wire cable within the garage. I then tried to push the door open manually and tried pulling cable but nothing works, it moves slightly to open but the stops dead like it is still locked somewhere. Help!!

cant help ya with the keys,,,but yr fuse has triped,,,good luck then,,,,,,,

Sounds like the door is frozen in its tracks . . . maybe one of the wheels is jammed?

Contact the letting agent/landlord.

I have had help from a maintainence guy from the letting agency. He advised me what to do and it worked.

The circular lock which pulls out attached to a cable pull it to open the door manually. I was then able to get to the fuse box ...hip..hip...horay!

But the electric door opening mechanism will still not work so it will have to be looked at by a professional.
