Have You Ever Fainted? We’re You Fearful Of It Occurring Again?
29 Answers
I wanted to ask for those who have fainted in public did you experience anxiety when comming round/afterwards?
Also were you fearful of it happening again? How did you manage this fear? What did you think/tell yourself
If you were not fearful about fainting again what was your thought process ie did you just think it is no big deal

I have exceptionally strong neck muscles and tightened them to resist the judo belt around my neck…I failed. As I slipped into unconsciousness, I thought this is not too unpleasant. Oxygen deprivation taught me never to volunteer.

One of our judo instructors had a very sing songy japanese voice though hebwas as English as we were. If a cadet did a good hip throw or stomach throw he would say’ Nice One’ in a Napanese hiss. We used to mimic him around tha mat and he got seriously peed off. He took each and every one of us on randoori and the next thing we knew was sitting on the mat whilst he kneed us in the back several times to bring us round after an effective choke hold. We didn’t try that again.

I once almost fainted while on parade on a rather hot day. We had been marching around the Regimental Square for about a half hour, then brought to attention to listen to a rather long-winded speech by the visiting dignitary, in whose honour the parade had been arranged.
I felt my legs begin to tremble and my vision became a tad blurred. Knowing that if i fell, no-one would pick me up (not allowed!), i came smartly to attention, executed a left turn, and marched towards the back of the square, then back again. Taking up my previous position, i came to attention again.
I thought i might be in for a rollicking, but our Troop Sergeant said i had done the right thing.
I really feel for those poor sods in the services whose fainting episodes are quite often filmed, or photographed, for all to see.

I fainted once because of loss of blood and quite a few times on reaching the hospital.
Didn't faint again until in my 60s and didn't bother to call doctor. Felt unwell later in the day. Hubby called gp who said my heart was racing and that anyone over 40 who isn't a fainter and has a faint should immediately call an ambulance. I was diagnosed later in hospital with atrial fibulation.
