How to find an ex-directory telephone number?

I need to get in touch with a family member, and only have their address, how would i be able to get their telephone number other than BT who would not give it out?

Unless you can ask mutual acquaintances there is no way.

How about writing a letter?

There is definately no way of finding their number as BT staff cannot view the number themselves. I know this as i used to work for Directory ENquiries

I used to work at BT as an operator and depending on what type of ex-directory there number is you may be able to contact them. When someone like myself signs up as ex-directory they ask if you want the number to be contactable if the operator connects the call. there is a charge for this. The only other way they will do it is if it is a dire emergency and the police need to be involved. Do you have the address etc as they may request this information. good luck. maybe quicker to go to there house.

Cannot get there it is right down south and i am right up north, what number would i call and how much would it cost?

It would have been best to talk so will try calling 100 if not i will get a first class letter sent out today.
Unless anyone knows of how to find email addresses.
I have been on sites to look but they all seem to be american!
