Barry, you spurred me on and I’ve just put one of the above in the oven :)
We had visitors last month, one of whom I bought all bran for and had half a box left over after they’d gone. I nearly threw it out as we don’t eat it, good job I didn’t as we’re now going to enjoy a lovely cake.
I wouldn’t have thought of making one if it hadn’t been for your post about fruit bread, so thanks very much x

Can’t do photos Barry, and won’t be cutting into it till tomorrow, it’s to take away with us, but will let you know when we do.
The recipe I used, which has three handwritten on a scrappy bit of paper in my recipe folder, says in big letters USE THIS ONE, so I did…
2 cups SR flour (1 whole meal, 1 white)
2 cups all bran
2 cups milk
2 cups dried fruit, 1 cup nuts
1 cup sugar
Soak all bran, fruit and sugar in the milk for 20 mins.
Bake 170 degrees (fan) for 55 minutes.

Today I just used all white flour and omitted the nuts as I didn’t have either in but added more fruit.

Oh and less sugar, with all the dried fruit it’s really quite sweet enough.
Looks simple enough, Vagus, thank you. It's the sort of recipe that begs for mixing and matching, flexible. That's the sort of thing I like to bake, no faffing.
Hi Vagus. I bought one of those silicone loaf tins a while ago and have been waiting for a recipe to pop up so I can try it out.
Might try this as we are always being told we should eat more fibre.
Don't suppose you have the weights in grams do you to save me having to convert from cups?
I think that's supposed to be millilitres not megalitres.
For simplicity, 250 g is a clise equivalent to one cup
If you want to be more precise, it is 226.8 grams

Barsel, I don’t I’m afraid but the cup measuring way is very quick and easy, and even if you don’t have a ‘cup measure’ then I’d just use a small mug or a teacup, I’ve done that in the past.
The recipe is very forgiving and you don’t have to be as precise as, say, a cake with eggs and butter in.
Just noticed. Since every ingredient is measured in cups you can use whatever conversion factor you like, and just get more or less of the end result.
I have been using a similar recipe for years, but I use oats instead of all bran
I'll have to wait for next week's shop to get some All Bran and I'll try it.
At what point do you add the flour Vagus? I hope you have a nice holiday.
It's a fairly low temp isn't it? Just googled a conversion and it's gas mark 3.
Cashier, you add the bran after the 20 minutes soaking :)
