ear piercings, why? Ban them!
bhg, yes, the man arrested was said to have been "on the water", so that would figure.
//It seems you are wrong.//

Well maybe and maybe not.

//early investigation indicates that there was no physical contact //

I'm guessing you dont have much experiecence with the sea or craft that sail on it. Boats and jetskis can cause an awful wake especially if some numb brain turns a sharp corner at the swimmers. Seen it happen many times.

Young kids hit by the wave would struggle if they were jumping of the pier, it is pretty deep there you know?

So lets wait and see what exactly the Police find out eh?
Ah yes, just seen BHG's link.

There you go.

YMB, I have no experience with the sea or craft that sail on it.

I would imagine that being physically hit by a vessel is different from being hit by the wake from a vessel.

The police felt it important enough to include the, "physically hit" element in their statement and that is what I am going by, as opposed to supposition, at this point.

Both can kill, especially weak swimmers or kids.
For me one of the worst things coming out (apart from the tragic loss of life) is the utter *** refusing to leave the beach and trying to film the CPR.

Disgusting individuals.
looking at other news outfits this is developing a snack bar tendency.
Secrecy to not prejudice the investigation and later prosecution.

And saying something in order to shut down all the wrong gossip, that could also mess up the investigation and later prosecution.
I notice that, rather than a jet ski, a pleasure boat's been impounded.

Seeing that the two poor kids died from injuries, and that they were swimming near the pier, my guess is that the boat caused a wave strong enough to cast the kids against the pier's structure. Hence the manslaughter charge.
I imagine they'd have to show the captain actually did something wrong - too fast, dangerously close to shore, under the influence of drugs or something. In the normal run of things, you swim around boats at your own risk (and as for tombstoning...).
> my guess is that the boat caused a wave strong enough to cast the kids against the pier's structure

That's a good guess - too big a boat, too close, too fast, caused a wave hitting a load of people, with some consequences much worse than others - some fatal. We shall see ...
^ or kids swimming in a no swim zone?
People have been asked not to speculate on the reason/s but when all's said and done, it'll all come out in the wash, I believe.
