You are buying their service, wear what you like.
Smart.
Smart definitely ! Good luck.
Saying that, a tradesman might have to fit in a visit to a mortgage advisor in his work gear so it shouldn't matter.
Does not matter what you wear because if you don't pass the credit check you are toast.
it's not like it used to be when you had to have an appointment with the building society manager and get dressed up - what you wear will have no bearing on whether you get a mortgage or not
If it's an independent mortgage advisor, they'd couldn't give a hoot what you wear, if it's a bank, go smart.
I would go smart.
I'd wear pretty much anything. they want your business. if you tick all the boxes you'll get a mortgage.
rocky: that's so old-fashioned. These days Banks are frothing at the mouth to give you a mortgage and only the Governments new guidelines are stopping them. If you have a steady job, clean credit they will jump through hoops to give you a loan -you could go dressed as a banana for all they care!
Wear whatever you like; as others have said, your appearance will have litle affect on your credit rating. Thankfully the days when money was more readily lend to a smart individual in a suit are behind us.

Ok thanks all. Ill go smart but no suit then.
Thank you :)
Janedoe you may be right about the clothes but I can tell you one thing, banks are definitely NOT frothing at the mouth to give people mortgages, the are cherry picking to an extreme.
Whatever you are comfortable in. They will draw conclusions from your finances not your atire! I seem to remember turning up in either my work clothes or jeans and a jumper/shirt when meeting our mortgage people last year.
'Frothing at the mouth to give you a loan'- that they certainly aren't doing.
Go dressed as you please, it really doesn't matter however.
Rocky: The banks are not cherry picking. I've been with my daughter to apply for a mortgage only last week and the adviser told us they would love to give out more loans its the GOVERNMENT guidelines that are stopping them. The Banks are more than pleased when someone with good LTV and a steady job come to them.
My son turned up in his work overalls - still got the mortgage - proved he had a job
