I have to take some tablets that i cant take on an empty stomach - theyre really bad for stomachs

I have lansoprazole but i also have to eat something, because i've had an ulcer in the past caused by tablets

Sometimes i have to take them late at night, when i dont want to eat - so would fybogel act like a barrier to the stomach lining & protect it like some food much apparently does?

fybogel is quite thick so im thinking it probably would?

thanks :)

Why not eat a banana or some yoghurt
Fybrogel is a drink used for constipation.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along, but I was thinking perhaps Gaviscon?
I have to take tablets (steroids) which are bad for the stomach so my doctor, recommended by a hospital consultant, prescribed omeprazole for me and instructed me to take them a little while before the streroids.
You can buy Omeprazole over the counter from supermarkets and chemists, must be a better option than constipation relief.
joko already takes Lansoprazole which is the same sort of thing as Omeprazole.
Drink some milk and maybe a biscuit if nothing else.
As calmck suggested, yoghurt is good but I wouldn't eat a banana late at night.
Bananas are a fab supper food - one of the best foods for sleep because of the high levels of magnesium
Does eating a banana at night cause stomach pain?

Apart from this, banana is a heavy fruit and our stomach takes a lot of time to digest it. This is because our metabolism is the lowest at night. Eating bananas at night might lead to stomach issues.
Barry I think you mean potassium.
I eat one every morning but they do upset my stomach if I eat one at bedtime.
I've heard that eating bananas last thing at night is a recipe for indigestion. I remember my dad saying that our doctor back in the 1950s said that the Gremans would have done us a favour by sinking all banana boats coming to the UK because of the indigestion they caused. I cannot remember ever having had indigestion.

I suppose it depends on the individual - I have no problem digesting bananas and it's a first food for many babies when they start eating solids
Barsel, I really did mean magnesium
"One medium-sized banana (126 grams) contains about 34 mg of magnesium or 8% of the daily value (3Trusted Source).

Magnesium may enhance your sleep via several different pathways."
Fybogel cannot be taken over a long period of time so maybe some custard or, as previously suggested, yoghurt.
Apologies Barry, I didn't know they contain Magnesium as well as Potassium.
I didn't think they would suit the OP to eat at night because she obviously has stomach problems.
Also, ripe bananas are higher in sugar and carbohydrates than most other fruit, so they may not be suitable for people with diabetes.
I didn't know that either.

im asking this because i dont want to eat anything - its not about the type of food or how much.

i want to know if psylllium husk acts liks a food in the belly.
I think its probably does somewhat as some use it for dieting to feel fuller.
joko have you ever had Fybrogel?
From memory when I needed to take it, it was like drinking thick wallpaper paste.
Given the choice of that and yoghurt, I would much prefer yoghurt.
What about a yoghurt drink?
Also, what's the point of taking something that's for constipation unless you actually need it.
I just read that psyllium husk (the ingredient in fybogel) needs to be taken an hour before bed, otherwise it can cause a blockage. Probably the same advice for fybogel.
