What a remarkable project and well done British ingenuity and engineering. We still can lead the way.

Good for him, just brilliant :) He must have had such an ambition to go for the record but I do wonder if he experienced any anti-climax when he had accomplished his target? Good luck to him for the future.

A great story to put Britain to the fore and not before time. It is a while since we enjoyed the successes of Campbell, Noble, Hailwood and even Cole.

This story invoked memories of The World's Fastest Indian which to be fair was just a rebuild...

Was that an Indian motorcycle ridden by a New Zealander choux. I vaguely remember that?
Question Author
Just googled it. Yes .There are indeed similarities in both achievements.

I loved the way " Munro" was accepted - hope it wasn't dramatic licence for the film's sake.
Munro was terminally ill so a remarkable win.
I have a secret pleasure - watching the Motorbike Show. Can remember a time when the BBC would cover a lot of m/bike racing. Surtees, Agostini and Sheene. Even dear old Harry Carpenter riding side car!
Do you mean murray walker choux? He started commentating on dirt bikey stuff.
TTT, 6 mins in. 1977/78 - memory still works ;) A clip was shown at SPOTY I recall.
Fair enough that is "know what I mean..." - arry! I also think Murray Walker did commentate on some sort of bikey sport in the old days.
