I'll start
a) I have a collection of antique silver and I regularly use a spoon which dates to 1705
b) I have a silver coin from the reign of Elizabeth 1 which is probably about 1580 ish. I'll bet that is modern compared to fossils etc!

I have an ammonite that was my dads which is old, also some coins from early on, Victorian 'bun' pennies, etc and as I took over dad's stamp collection I have early stamps, sadly not a penny black but there are a couple of red ones that I think were early.
The bureau (previous post) is still used and I suppose the fossil,stamps and coins would be classed as purely decorative now
