My remedy was to get an under-the pillow loudspeaker with a volume control, turned right down with the rdio tuned to BBC World Service. If unable to sleep I'd slip a hand under the pillow, turn up the volume. If you are unable to interest yourslf in the type of topics broadcast, this may not work.
But so many times, a topic came on and if I was interested I'd look forward to hearing it, felt relaxed ... and in the morning was disappointed to find that I'd missed it.
Threr is downside. Some programmes annoyed me and provoked wakefulness.
