I missed a call yesterday from a Dr Martin from a local number. When I returned the call it was my surgery but according to them they don't have a Dr Martin and my notes haven't been accessed at all recently. It sounds like a sophisticated scam where they can appear to be calling from a specific number, not sure what the con would have been, As I should have realised a call from the surgery would appear as Surgery, not a specific name.

How odd
Not sure what you mean. Did caller say name was Dr Martin or did it show up as that on your phone display
Surely the callers name appears on your display is the name you have set up on your contacts
Maybe it was a voicemail.

The name showed up on the display, I never answered it as I was driving and it stopped before I could answer but as it was a local dialling code, I called it back and got the Surgery. They're as puzzled as I am, they've never had a Dr Martin and had it been genuine it would have shown as Surgery on my display. I've heard of scammers being able to make their call appear to come from any number, it will be interesting if it calls again.
its an odd one- I know callers can spoof numbers that appear but I not aware callers can determine what name appears on your display, thats something the phone owner sets up I thought
Was this on an iPhone?
thx...
