I found after my last employer failed my probation he replied with an ex employee before hand and everyone knew except me

No it isn’t bad - it’s a business imperative.
I’ve got rid of a number of people before the end of their probation when it became clear they weren’t up to the job. The last one only a couple of weeks ago because there was too much sickness - if they’re taking a lot of sick days during their probation as sure as eggs are eggs they will take more after their probation.
Businesses aren’t there to provide people with a living, they’re there to make money, and if people aren’t capable of contributing to the business they have to go.
Sounds harsh but it’s a business reality.
