...........isn't going to win anyone any votes. Even if the court had ruled against Mad Sad Khan, the whole thing would have just been used for road charging based on usage. What happened to the development of anti-pollution measures? Remember lead-free petrol? That was going to be a big help to reduce vehicle emissions. But hold on, it gets better! There is now the Catalytic Converter. This will be an even bigger help to reduce vehicle emissions. But hold on again! We now have Ad Blue, for diesel vehicles. Sorted! Much lower and less harmful emissions that are surely making lots of money for a few people. Trouble is, according to Mad Sad Khan, over 4,000 deaths a year in London are caused by vehicle emissions; something that he cannot prove and neither can anyone else. I haven't followed the recent case but I wonder if anyone challenged Mad Sad in court to provide proof of Monty Python type statement

No it wasn’t. It is something else which critics of the government repeat in the hope that if they do so often enough eventually people will believe them:

This is especially so when you consider the controversy that expanding ULEZ has created and the part it was alleged to have played in the result of the Uxbridge by-election. But they didn’t and there’s a very good and simple reason for that – it isn’t true.

Ulez works. Nope ... Ulez is not cost effective it is just another punish the proles exercise. Closing Heathrow to all traffic, except vital, would have more effect on pollution in London and affect less people. Private jets should be banned altogether and the boat traffic on the Thames being cleaned up, (like the underground as mentioned by Retro) should have been the next step. .

Low hanging fruit is preferred by lazy, ineffective politicians of all stripes.
The Underground will be excused in the same way that the sewage disgrace is: Victorian engineering, working inCREDibly hard to..., not built with modern numbers in mind etc.
Don't ask a UK politician to organise something worthwhile and then see it through, the job these days is only a means to an end.

Some quote "models" as justification for the ULEZ. No-one has mentioned whether peoples' lifestyles might be a factor. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that since the increased use of laminate flooring (as opposed to carpets) cases of asthma have greatly reduced.
There's no doubt in my mind that ULEZ is a deliberate policy to tax working people, and will be changed from ULEZ to road charging, especially if the 2030 target of battery powered vehicles is acheived.

Whether the ULEZ will noticeably improve London’s air quality and improve people’s heath might be open to debate – but back in the 1990s when I used to stay over for a weekend at a friend’s flat in East Ham, I noticed that my snot had what looked like black soot mixed in with it, and my friend’s flat was not that close to a busy road.
I find it puzzling. Why hasn't Khan been vetoed by the Prime Minister i/c HMG. Mr Sunak voices his displeasure on the ULEZ scheme and vows to have it investigated. A bit late now. It is patently obvious that the only one of three by election seats was won by the Tories in a London Borough. The people have spoken. Londoners do not want ULEZ. Many will lose their jobs or trades. Why is the government not listening?
When Boris was London Mayor he was vetoed by a Home secretary ,no less, in a Tory government from purchasing two water cannon. A valuable tool for the police especially in this day what with XR and JSO. Another scenario that Sunak loses sleep over a £7million policing cost.

He banned the Triumph lingerie posters on the stations escalators. Posters that Londoners witnessed every day on their commute, since before Khan's parents came to the UK, without complaint. Of course Khan is a Moslem and has to keep his friends in Tower Hamlets and Southwark on board. I wonder if that is the reason Mr Shapps is too frightened to challenge his grossly over extended ULEZ robbery.
Khan has already displayed his partisan politics with the Trump balloon amongst others.
It was in 2018 that Khan decided he was going to pedestrianise a great deal of Oxford Street. Westminster Council stopped him.
Then, just as now, he massaged the figures of the consultation.

The same sort of ruse was done on the consultation stage of ULEZ not a year ago.
Khan is deceitful and couldn't lie straight in bed. When Khan has had to face enquiries about ULEZ in the London Assembly he frequently was unable to supply answers to fairly probing questions but just mumbled that he hadn't bought his paperwork with him or his staff hadn't completed their research. Hardly transparent or helpful ,is he, when he knows what sort of questions he will face.
I do not trust this man to run a sari emporium let alone the city of London which he his hell bent on destroying.

It is certainly personal for my wife. She hates Khan with a vengeance.
Her current car was bought new and exempted from VED because of its Green credentials. It is called a Fabia Greenline. A 3 cylinder diesel 1200cc. Never failed an MOT and obviously passed emission tests. She was a nurse working in a day care unit and sometimes did a night shift as an agency nurse as well. £75 just for going to work!!! That she has now retired it will still affect her in every day life. We will get nothing in Khan's scrappage scheme because we are not on benefits.

I think we cannot go on ignoring the pollution epidemic. If the government didn’t take steps n the 60s, how many more would’ve died because of the London ‘pea soupers’.
The burden will fall to Londoners to clean up their act. Unfortunately it comes at a time when many hard working people are being crucified financially - but at some point we have to bite the bullet.

"Mad Sad Khan" seems not to realise that excessive control in the UK achieves little on a global scale, and hits the economy and standard of living here. He also seems not to realise that anyone diagnosed as being vulnerable to pollution has the option of moving elsewhere; and an alternative is certainly not making life miserable for the majority who have no desire to be victim of unfair restrictions and further demands for their money. But in this sort of attitude he doesn't differ from other political mayors who all seem power mad and control freaks. Even to the extent of overruling authorities elected to look after their local area. These mayor positions need to be abolished, like yesterday.

From memory, my sooty snot appeared as thin black streaks within the snot – I assumed that the soot particles had been caught in my nose, and then streaked in the fluid (rather than remaining as the original soot particle shape).
I never asked my friend whether she suffered sooty snot, living and working in London – but if I was to have lived there, my sooty snot may not have got any worse with the throughput of snot equalling the rate of soot particles caught in my nose.

It's plainly obvious this is nothing about health. It's a massive cash cow for Sadiq and his cronies. He must think Londoners are fools. If they want to get real about the health of Londoners perhaps they can crack down on the stabbings and knife violence which happen with sickening regularity. That is something all of us would get behind and support. But that won't happen while this odious little man is allowed to continue his reign of havoc.
It's clear he's going to push ahead with what he wants, and two fingers up to anyone working in London. When he's not endorsing JSO, allowing mosques in Picadilly, or presiding over the the stabbing epidemic, he's going to hit every diesel van driver with a supermarket. Why did anyone vote for this cretin?
