Make it as cryptic as you want for us to guess , I’ve told you all too much about me to take part so I’ll play ‘guessy ‘ from your descriptions and if nothing else it’ll put CB back on AB for a wee bit

Well done, Moorea7. Yorkshire is huge (happy Yorkshire Day by the way) and encompasses everything from high fells, crags and moors, through the Dales, the Industrial Belt, incredible history (was once the capital of the country until Norman William arrived and needed to be near to his lands in Normandy), the bare, bleak, sheep-filled Pennines, the huge...

A very famous racing driver lived in my town many moons ago, long gone. There's a local road named after him & the Wetherspoon's which opened here about 18 months ago bares his name too
? Bourne
Thanks for B.A. Bobbisox - I got carried away & waxed lyrical. :)
I missed this post yesterday Bobbi. What a pleasant read through with not a snipe throughout. Good thread. We had a day out in a place with Roman Tombs and an Amphitheatre on display, a famous Clock, and where Welshmen were not allowed between sunset and sunrise.
Togo - Chester!
A battle.
Birthplace of a well known comedian.

Correct JJ109. Strange thing is the Welshman ban was in the 1500s, Tudor period. The Tudors of course being a Welsh royal dynasty.
Mozz71 ? Hastings
The most famous person born in our town was well known for airing her dirty laundry in public.
Buenchico. Just a guess Wymondham.
Moorea7:
Getting Norfolk and Suffolk mixed up is like confusing Yorkshire with Lancashire!

I do have to admit that Wymondham is a lovely town though ;-)
//Mozz71 ? Hastings// Yup, that's my hometown. Not there anymore, but my roots are.
Ah well, map I was looking at said South Norfolk!
My home City has been referenced, although I would have used different clues. The Town that I am now living in boasts a Zoo, a Rugby Stadium that also has an Athletics track and hosts top act pop concerts. A Football stadium, and a Golf course. A superb beach and once hosted an Eisteddfod.
Once, Togo?

Colwyn Bay hosted an Eisteddfod twice, in 1910 and 1947. (You can actually make that three times if you include 1941, when the event was held in Old Colwyn).
