Well the Met Office changed their data this morning while I was out having coffee.
Now 16°C feels like 10°, Wind NNW 30 mph gusting all but 60....no rain at the moment. Another two hours of this and then we begin to abate. 30 percent chance of rain for this time too.
Wanting to get my sofa covers out as I washed those yesterday - shouldn't have trusted the Met! - the first half done yesterday but 2/3rds dry now in being able to get them out in the gale earlier - hopefully out by 5.30 for another couple of hours.
It's hammering down as I write, really extremely loud.
At 5.20 a.m. there was a huge 'BANG!' which knocked all the electrics in the village out for a few minutes followed by a roar like an express train as water just fell out of the sky.
A local farmer who was looking out of his window said that 2 bolts of lightening hit each other.
Then it's eased off and even stopped raining for a couple of hours, but it's back again. The aquifers are full and one of the Springs has started to rise - only usually happens at the end of Winter.
Also freezing cold, no more than about 12C - we're putting jumpers on.
I agree with the OP. We've had a bit of rain here in Manchester but nothing like a storm. Saturday wasn't bad, a few showers, unlike Ilfracombe this week. And we're going near there next Saturday. See here:
Heavy showers in West mids today, managed to get onto balcony to pick tomatoes, runner beans and courgettes. Will take a coffee and my kindle out there later.
Thanks for the comments. It always amazes me to see people dodging breaking waves like this, in this particular scenario, because there could be large rocks being thrown up with these waves and cause severe injuries, as happened one time in a similar situation at Colwyn Bay, near the pier. Just leave it alone!
