In days gone by, county cricket and test cricket would require expert batsmanship, of which there are many examples. Nowadays, with the introduction of The Hundred, T20 etc it's become an exercise in Slogsmanship, not Batsmanship. Who can outslog who? I get why it's happening - the game needs more interest and paying fans, so out with the skills and in with the slogs!

Yes, those were the days when you could go to a cricket match and have a good sleep. Not so, nowadays, all that run-scoring keeps you waken.

It certainly does but it aint batsmanship is it? It's slogsmanship, if there's such a word. Ben Stokes and England are clearly trying to get this method into the test arena. We'll see.
This may be one of those cases of over analysis, coupled with a need to have a warm beer to the sound of Merlin engines overhead.
The five day Test matches still require a bit of batsmanship, but the other formats are different. The ODIs and 20Twentys are exciting but I have a dislike for the Hundred because it is just a money making gimmick.
