I was surprised to read of the death of a gentleman using one of these lifts in Germany

I used one regularly years ago, they are very efficient and moving lots of people between floors quickly but are a hazard. I thought they had all been ripped out years ago.

Have you used one? Coincidentally, the book I am currently reading has a character called Eden Paternoster as a lead character. (Left you Dead, Peter James, a good read if you like that sort of thing)

I think that I saw them on Van Der Valk in the 70s. They looked so alien and scary.
I was in one at Birmingham University in the early 90s - Muirhead Building?

Getting on the London Eye is similar - you have to get on while it is still moving

As indeed you do with most cable cars, such as the one across the River Thames.
I've used one, and also done that thing where you go over the top and come down the other side.

I can understand why they're not considered safe these days.
Your're welcome

The deep level tube stations had circular lift shafts, each with two lifts. The rhombus shape fitted better than rectangular.
If my memory serves me right, I think I managed to get on first time. But I'm sure I had two attempts to get off the damn thing !!
