A few unsolved left-overs :-

Times 28697

Inner glow passes for beauty (5) L?O?S. The answer is LOOKS (Beauty), but the Parsing....?

Port of ME : what's after that on main road, west of hospital (5). Answer = HAIFA, but parsing ?? AIFA is to the east of H not the west.

Leaves, bags packed, for this short time off work? (3,5) = TEA BREAK. Why/how does "bags packed" = BREAK?

Times 28698

Knackered, overwhelmed by allotment, drank last of prosecco (7,3) = CLAPPED OUT. Why does LAPPED = overwhelmed?

Fight Korea's top brass after officer goes to the north (4,5) = LOCK HORNS (Fight). LOC = officer goes north. K = Korea's top, but why does HORNS = brass?

Sorry for the delay in expressing appreciation for the answers given - I was in hospital for a couple of days.  Thanks to all who contributed (especially Toorak). though I'm still not happy about AIFA being to the east of H(hospital) when the clue says "west of hospital".

 

Is this one of those so called reversed cryptic clues?  If so, I'd be very grateful for some sort of explanation about them.

The west of 'hospital' is the 'h'

I think west of hospital might refer to the h - it is the first letter - hence to the west - of hospital
