Private Smart Meter

We live in a Park Home, there is no option for a smart meter as the Park Owner supplies our electric. Is there a type of 'smart meter' that I can use on my supply to minitor usage ?

A few years ago, before smart meters, Eon gave me a device to try out. It clamped around the power cable by the meter, and a display gave me such information.

I doubt if they are made any more, but perhaps someone might sell one on ebay. I don't know what to search for to find one though. Suggestions anyone?

I am not an electrician nor an energy expert and I hope somebody has a better than mine but as far as I know the only device available is a plug in monitor.  You plug it in to a socket and you plug device (washing machine, tumble dryer, tv etc) and it will tell you how much electricity your device has used for the period of time you have left it plugged in.  Some can tell how much it has cost (useful for a tumble drying cycle for example) but you would have to programme that information in.

I don't know if this one is any good but it is an example of what is available.  Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation can't use for hard wired equipment like immersion heaters or electric cookers

OK, my meter is outside. Is there a clamp on that reads on a remote (a scren i could have in the home). Id like to be able to display current cost per hour if possible

We have the sort of thing that barry suggests. We got it years ago just for curiosity and I've used it occasionally for checking how much power is used by eg fridges that you have on all the time but they don't use power all the time because of the thermostat. Other things, like computers, use more power if you make them work hard (rendering video, perhaps) rather than just browsing the internet. You just program the unit cost of electricity in and the device displays a running total of the number of units used and the cost.
