They picked it up very quickly and occasionall beat my younger son (Uncle Tommy) aged 40years. Ally, the oldest (11 years) is hoping to join the Chess club at her new 'big school'. I will tell Ally of this on-line chat board in the hope that she can advance to higher stages. Brilliant
My youngest son (who isn't really that young) plays online, and also helps run a face to face chess club and does their website.
I never got the hang of chess, tried very hard but just couldn't get the hang of it. I believe it's a great skill to have, a bit like grownup Lego...lots of areas of the brain involved.
