You will need your passport and you will have to check whether you need a visa (If you are British you won't need one). You can alo pick up The Maid of the Mist from the US side which will take you into the horseshe falls and back to the US side
The view of the falls on the Canadian side are spectacular.
Hope this helps.

It's easy and can be done on foot. I was there a few years back - got local bus to the falls from downtown Buffalo and then just walked all over the place. There is a bridge which crosses over the river and the border is half way across. As long as you have your passport you'll be fine - I went across it 4 times in one day (I was feeling indescisive about where I wanted to be!)
Have fun - its a spectacular place and great in winter too. Not sure it'll be cold enough in November but I was there in January and there were lumps of ice in the river and the spray from the falls had frozen in mid-air forming a huge wall of ice at the bottom - it was amazing.
