Lottie I have been thinking about an electric wheelchair for myself. You probably have plenty of storage but I don't, so difficult.
Thanks Red, I've looked at quite a few. It would have to live in my car boot. If i remember correctly the lightest I could find was either 19kg or 21kg. I mentioned that on here and I remember someone replying who said put 19 bags of sugar in a black bag and see if you can lift them up to car boot height. I haven't got round to going to Waitrose with a black bag yet;-)

Hi Ladybirder. The problem fo me is with the new lightweight electric wheelchairs I they are low and I am tall with long legs. They squash me up and I don't feel secure. The more expensive ones are better, but come out at about £2000+. I have a scooter, a very good one but it's not supportive so need to change to a chair for side and back support. The reputable dealers don't recommend the cheaper ones. I am hoping that our local company will give us a good price for the scooter. It hasn't had much use at all. I am better with my rollator which was expensive but really is my best friend. It's a large one and all terrain. Made in Norway. I thought of the lightweight electric wheelchair because there are days when I simply haven't any energy or hurt too much and it can live in the car boot together with my rollator.
Mr L would find pushing a wheelchair hard work because he needs 2 new knees and I can't use a self propelled one because of my shoulders.
We have plenty of room, but at the moment we still have a hospital bed downstairs, even though I'm upstairs every night we're hanging on to it for a while, just in case. But I've ended up with two zimmer frames which I can't get on with, various contraptions for the loo and a commode plus various another stuff. I had carers in for about a week to wash me until I cancelled them. Useless and I felt invaded. Hubby was better than any of them. House is a mess with all my clutters stuffand cleaner has not been well for a couple of weeks.
Fortunately now I can shower in my tub bath and wash my hair. Takes me ages to get washed and dressed, but at least I can do it.
Do you know, I now hate myself!! I'm a total wreck physically and mentally!! ;0))

ladybird/lottie I don't know whether any of these are suitable. I also read that some people are eligible for electric wheelchairs via the NHS if your doctor recommends. I'm sure you probably know all this but thought it worth mentioning
Thank you Margo. I did contact them a couple of months ago, but they have given up holding stock in local stores and you can only buy on line. If they arrive and not suitable you have topay a lot to send them back! The heaper ones are very rubbishy. I tested them in the Norwich Care Company store and they felt flimsy and the seats were so low. My knees ended up under my chin.!!
