Is this a cryptic question or a plain straightforward ask?

Biggar?

Longforgan?

I was thinking along those lines, Mally, but that's really a cryptic answer isn't it?

Third clue:it shares its name with a species of turtle

the only turtle i can find with Scottish place name is.... Stirling... but doesn't fit with other clues

Not much help really as does not tie in with all the clues.

Gretna Green I think was just called Gretna.  There is a  green turtle.
