Watching the news, featuring people living in Israel, I'm surprised to see no kippahs being worn.

Are they not all Jewish?? Many Jews in East London wear the traditional Jewish costume.

Most don't wear them all the time.  They wear them to synagogue.

I should have added the Jews in London you're talking about are strictly Orthodox.

I was pondering the exact same question Atheist, but then I found this snippet of info.

The "Israelites" btw are an ancient tribe. 
A bit like referring to the English as Angles or Saxons ;-)

Most Jews in this country are here because their forebears fled persecution in Europe, predominately from the Russians and the Nazis.  They came from all over Europe - Russia, Germany, Holland, etc., and the countries of Eastern Europe.   Although Israel is their spiritual home, they are not 'Israelites' as such but the toast at practically every Jewish festival or event is 'Next year in Jerusalem'.  Interestingly, in many ways Islam rather closely mirrors Judaism - probably because Mohammed relied heavily upon both Jewish and Christian texts in the formation of his new religion.  The one big difference is whilst Islam's intention is to spread itself worldwide, the Jews do not seek - or want - converts.

If so why don't we see more Morris Dancers on TV, whilst they wander the streets, let alone kilt wearing haggis chasers.

.... and furthermore, not all the Jews in Israel are orthodox, - that is the Hasidic Jews; the ones who wear the ringlets & black hats. And even further I'm told, quite a number of them are slightly bogus, draft-dodgers because orthodox Jews are exempted from the compulsory military call-up.

odd. historical lingistics. 60s and 70s, frequently referred to and to themselves as Anglo-Saxons ( group with white americans, de gaulle was keen on this).

Barry Goldwater was the then right wing candidate, and the world was full of WASPs - white anglo-saxon protestants - they were the ones with the ( protestant) work ethic.

I'm saying - Iam just saying, I dont say it is all true
