Here is a list of 12 words picked at random from my Chambers dictionary.

The challenge is to make up some cryptic clues for each or any word. Don't tell how many letters or that will make it easier.

Anyone can guess the answers.

1 Germ

2 Pretentious

3 Censorious

4 Intensive

5 Concerted

6 Harem

7 Secretly

8. Plausible

9 Trace

10 Unpleasantness

11 Bawdy

17:05 correct

Twelve in what sounds like cats extremities knocks the first off holy book.

^^^^

Plausible

Yes, Patsy, I must try harder!

American Dad' smear, though misguided, makes sense.

Too much blue underlining.

I've got lost now. What's happening?

Tilly2, thanks for the fun.

PS There  ended up being too many posts for me to keep track of which went with which clues... so I wandered away!

I'll give you the answers to both of my clues.

'40 in coastal area' - ba(wd)y (WD40 in bay)

He had an idea while having a short haircut - Germ.

Parsed as; He (establishing male) - short haircut (herr (sounds like hair) is German for man, short herr therefore is short German = Germ. Threw the 'idea' in as an extra clue - Germ of an idea.

Yeah, i know, don't give up yer day job, Ken.
