Strange message. Have you changed your WiFi provider recently?

Did he receive an email to that effect ? It might be spam.

What has happened to trigger this?

Make/model of tv?

He has an android tv box which stopped working. The guy who deals with it says we now have to change the server to watch it again! It's all mumbo jumbo to me!

So it's the Android box and not the TV.   Is the box set up to illegally watch content from another country?

Or illegally watch TV for free that you should be paying for, such as Sky?

Question Author

We live abroad and yes its a streaming box from Germany.  We certainly would pay for Sky were we permitted to do so!

Sky don't like it and twiddle with settings to cut off these boxes that people make a lot of money out of.  You'll get it up and running and it will happen again.

The man you pay to provide the service should sort it out.

You can legally get English language Sky in Spain

oops, please ignore my previous post.  I believed Sky's new streaming service was available in Spain for UK channels

Question Author

Yes Barry I have sky go in my room that I watch

Mr N just preferred another system!

Sky has nothing to do with this android box  and only Spain or Germany can cut it off!

Anyway thanks for all help.

If you are using the box to watch Sky, Sky can cut it off, in the same way they stop loaded Firesticks working.

Anyway I didn't need a lecture been alive quite a few years, okay wanted to know what a server was.

A server is a computer service or device that provides the programme to your computer. My server is MEO in Portugal. My TV service is via a company that provides a box that connects to my MEO router and I pay an anual subscription for IPTV multi channels. The company is responsible if the box goes down but MEO is responsible for the service to the house

I haven't been lecturing you and have no idea why you think I have.

There has been many posts in my Nextdoor group from people who have had similar problems to yours over the last few days, losing their illegal connections to Sky, also in my Tenerife forum.

It's a hooky box designed to steal TV from sky. They have a tech team who's job is to stop that. It seems they are successful. Changing server wont work, they now have the finger print of that set up. I have a mate who works for sky. If I was you I'd dispose of the box entirely. They have a tendency to prosecute if at all possible so you'd do well to get shot of the evidence.
