sandy, what happens if it is a company that you deal with calling?  Or the hospital/GP?  The number that is calling you is not always the number that you call them on.

My phone has TrueCall so anybody not in my contacts has to announce themselves before the phone rings.

I had a call from an "Edinburgh" number yesterday.

I also never pick up unrecognised numbers unless I somehow have some reason to believe it is important. If it is important there's voicemail

Same here, except one can get caught out when a genuine call from a company (etc.) is plausible so I take the chance of answering. Sometimes it was important I did, but others just confirm to undesirables that the mobile is active 😟

Oh, international caller identity surely ought to start 00 or + ? Not that CLI can be trusted when the system allows spoofing. Service providers should be obliged (legally & globally) to prevent that. They know where the call came from.
