Now that we have activated the LPA can we use it to get a day help in for my MIL.

She receives money from DWP each week and whilst that won't pay for it all it will pay a chunk and the rest would come out of her account.

would this be allowed? I know MIL says she can't afford it but she can.

Ha ha.  My Mum's mum was 50% French, perhaps she strayed over the border?

I have a lovely fat friend.   Very fat actually.  A lovely lady. My mother used to refer to her as your fat friend, never by her name.  It made me furious!

Rowan, you legally have to get consent.

Himself is going to get her to sign something and keep records of everytime he access her account and what he does etc.

He is also on the British Gas boiler account and buildings and contents insurance.

I manage her Shell gas account for the time being but I will pass that over to him as well at some point.

She is not a skinny lady probably a size 14 now due to old age but for years she was an 18/20

I had always coveted a leather mac that she had - and a few years ago I tried it on and it was too big - so she offered it too me - I loved telling her it was too big so no thank you - the look I got!

I can just imagine the scene if a helper turns up!   0)

lol can you imagine!

The thing is she gets money for it so - he is going to leave it till march and then tell her that she needs more help than a cleaner once a fortnight can give her - she also needs to stop relying on her neighbours or friends who are older than she is!!

She had fallen out with her 'young friend' who helped her all thru covid because she has got another refugee living with her and doesn't have enough spare time for myMIL anymore

/Himself is going to get her to sign something and keep records of everytime he access her account and what he does etc./

Splendid.  I did that and it also helped with a very speedy probate when the need arose!

I have LPA for my oldsters (my wife and I have LPAs in place for each other, ready to be triggered if and when necessary) but thankfully they were both ready and willing 'to be looked after' as they put it.  Even so, I have to comply with their decisions as much as I possibly can.

I'm wondering if my Mum had a twin sister in  Norfolk!
