My external hard drive I've been using for a few years is being replaced with one that has larger memory. Using a Download Time Calculator I found online it estimates with a 40 MB ps download speed it would take 172 hours(undisturbed) to completely move 3.10 TB to my new Ex hard drive. Anyone have any suggestions to how to make the transfer go faster?

A download time calculator is for downloading through the internet. If you have two hard drives attached to your computer, it will be a lot quicker than that ...

Firstly, and apologies for encroaching on PP's territorial imperative, your external hard drive has storage, not memory.

Anyway, does your main device not have sufficient ports to connect both devices at the same time?

I connected both from the back of my tower computer. I have a hub but I assumed using that might make the load slower.

If you have both devices connected at the same time, just copy the files from one to the other using Windows Explorer, or the equivalent if you're not using a Windows device.

It may take a while - you don't have to sit and watch it...

I just checked after understanding that Download Time Calculator was wrong downloading just a single TB takes about 7 hours.

Ignore that. You're not downloading anything. You're transferring from one external drive to another both connected to the same device.

Cloning the entire contents of the old drive to the new drive is a process that ensures that all your data, including partitions, files, and folders, are seamlessly transferred to the new drive without any loss. This operation can be completed reliably using DiskGenius partition management software. https://www.diskgenius.com
Connect both hard drives to your computer
Launch DiskGenius
From the tools section of the menu, select Clone Disk
Identify and select the source and destination drives
Initiate the cloning process
