When youy get the bonus 5 points, is that included in your score for the word or is it added on?

I wa so sure when I started doing Blossom that the points were added and then the bonus 5 pts went on.  Then I noticed this wasn't happening and I wondered if I imagined that the bonus points were added separately.  Thanks for confirming that they are included in the word score.
