A leading football club President went on to the pitch and punched the referee to the ground after a match. Yes, you read that right, not the Manager or some angry fan, but the Club President.
Terrible.
OK, it wasn't in this country, it was in Turkey, but it could be catching. Turkey's FA should chuck the book at him and the club very severely otherwise it will spread. Also, a criminal prosecution and a prison term would be appropriate IMHO. A very powerful message needs to be sent out to the entire European football community in order to stem this behavioural decline now.

I remember when football generally was widely disdained here back in the 70s, with violence in the streets at a peak and occasional mass tragedies during matches. But gradually things were sorted out, with money from Sky and with some help from Nick Hornby's book.
