While liars, cheats, thieves, murderers and sundry ne'erdowells return to their bunkers to count their loot more 'moderate' governments get down to the business of taxing their citizens to pay for trashing their economies.

Why do ABers think 'what he on abart now den?' is the all purpose crushing one-liner? - should be put on the banned list along with troll and child-killer

I have to admit, I am at a bit of a loss on this one.  Cant relate it to the link.  Can you(or someone) help me out a bit please?

As all the nations are meant to agree to the proposals but a fair few didn’t, I am wondering why they are claimed to have been accepted?

A call to move away ? Sounds vague, one wonders if that means different things to different nations. It needs more meat on the bone if some are going to interpret it as reducing to near zero next week while others take it to mean over the next few centuries fewer new fossil fuel sources should be exploited.

With you douglas. WHO will be put in charge globally as this farrago intended from the off.

All 198 countries actually agreed on something. Obviously you can't please everyone, but that in its way is a bit of a coup.

'An agreement has been reached at the United Nations COP28 climate talks to "transition away" from fossil fuels, though outrage has been sparked by the decision not to phase them out completely.

The new deal had been floated early on Wednesday and was stronger than a draft proposed days earlier, but had loopholes that upset critics.

Samoa's lead delegate Anne Rasmussen, on behalf of small island nations, complained that they weren't even in the room when COP28 President Sultan al-Jaber said the deal was done.

She said that “the course correction that is needed has not been secured,” with the deal representing business-as-usual instead of exponential emissions-cutting efforts.

She also added the deal could “potentially take us backward rather than forward," calling it "a litany of loopholes".'

Would love to have seen Flightradar after "deal" was done. I suspect the sky would have been awash with private jets.

I know my comment was a bit glib, but I really struggle with the fact that these people, 1000s of them, fly to a summit, many on them in private jets, and then slap themselves on the back that they're making a difference.

Basically they spend weeks arguing about the exact wording of an agreement that most of them have got no intention of abiding by anyway.

Nice jolly though. I bet the food and accomodation is good.
