Flat feet and sport

My 15 year old son has been diagnosed with flat feet but he is a very keen sportsman and is very upset, can ayone offer some good advice?

i think not !! so he wont be a professional in his chosen sport but he can still participate...
if he`s keen, why not get him to try another sport ??
swimming is as good as any sport i can think of and flat feet wouldnt be a disadvantage.
cycling is another sport that he could try...
i cant understand why him being flat footed is a problem....

Flat feet can be very painful, as my husband who is a postman will tell you. He has only just develped it after 23 years of plodding the streets, but despite buying arch supports, good trainers, and expensive shoes, nothing has worked. His GP told him to consult a Podiatrist (different to a Chiropodist apparently), but it doesn't seem to be very cheap! Good luck to your son.
