I want to be able to use the space bar on my keyboard to enter a tick in a cell. Do i do this through a macro? Any sites that will show me how to do this?

This might help, i'm not sure how to do it myself.
What happens if you need a space?

I tried it using the character map (start - accessories - system tools) pasted the square root sign into one cell and then used Ctrl V to paste it where it was wanted!

Can't find a tick anywhere???
Would also be interested in other people's approach to this one.

Machecoul, Have been using this method:

But i know that you can set it up somehow by a "one-key" stroke. For what i need it for, there would be no need for the space, hence the reason why i would use that. I have filled in forms before now and put a tick in a box by just using the space bar. I know that there is way, it's just finding it!
Yeah auzzie, but that was probably an Excel form with check boxes in it.

If that is what you want to do then you will need to add in check boxes from the forms toolbar.

Thanks Euan, Too much hassle for that. Its only for a check list.
auzzie - I saw that and tried it - as instructed and got nothing in the box!!
Do you need to use the number pad ? Which I don't have on my laptop.
Question Author
Yes, Machecoul you do. Just tried it. You'll have to get an external keypad?!!
Question Author
Machecoul, a friend of mine uses the square root symbol which looks similar to a tick.
In excel, go to Insert and then symbol. The square root sign is in there. Better than nothing i suppose.

Here it is. I knew that there was a way!

Thanks - I'll try that.
That's brilliant - works a treat.
Have to think how I can use it now - and show off in the process :))
