my merc sprinter suddenly stopped the other day after i borrowed it to a mate and he brought it back with no fuel in it, it never actually stopped with no fuel but i think i just got it to the garage in time, anyway..... i was driving down the road and a load of white smoke bellowed out of the exhaust, i have since changed filters, bled it,towed it, changed the "O" seals in the filter housing and it still wont go??
Did it definately 'not' run out of fuel because (don`t know if this applies to a sprinter) but if you run out of fuel in a vito only a merc garage can reset something or other to get it up and running again
no i didnt run out of diesel, i took it to the garage the following morning and put a tenner in (thats all i had on me) but the light on the fuel gauge never went out, so he must of run it real low!
tomtech...... yes its diesel i put in and no the timing chain hasnt snapped but after talking to merc on the phone yesterday the said that its a fault that the pump can jump a tooth,so i will be trying that today, but just incase i bought an engine off ebay yesterday and if i cant get this one done today i am throwing the new lump in!!
