i got a dvd from a rental store trying to copy for personal use only (yes i know it's wrong,but there we go)
and niether dvd shrink nor dvd decrypter can overcome the protection on it, is there a new protection system out there
btw the dvd is a sony product

Does it play ok in a normal player?

yes
it plays superb in all my dvd players it a new release of a 50s film not one mark on the playing sie,something of a wonder from a rental place
ive not come accross this prob before
it copies in dvd shrink and dvd encrypter up to the vts 01.1 file then say unexpected file or something like that and hangs
Try CloneDVD
try dvd decrypter and dvd shrink 3.2 they both work of each
other.

thanks deso and the rest. clone dvd did work but it did stick in the same place ,14% in, but got going again after 6 mins:

btw,ill have to watch it on my comp but thats fine
because so far nero, sonic,and dvd shrink still reject the file after a short while saying cannot continue unexpected flie format etc.
