We are having a massive one right now. Howling wind and hail storms. Glad I am home and relatively safe. Some of the strikes must have been very close indeed.

North Wales Barsel. Been a while since I saw a thunderstorm like the one last night. Hundreds of strikes in just an hour, thankfully lots out at sea. Be interesting t see how many windmills were hit and out of action. A couple of very close ground strikes, one only a hundred yards away in the fields adjacent, and one down by the Primary School nearby. I swear I could smell the brimstone like flashes they were so close. The mountains looked spectacular and apparently down on the LLyn Peninsular it was as bright as daylight for periods as the flashes were so close together. Cold this morning and the wind has eased.

Apparently, Togo, over 100 homes in Stalybridge, Gt Manchester, had their rooves ripped off by freak winds. And i've been moaning 'cos some of the race meets have been cancelled. Note to self:  count your blessings.

And i realise i've just used the outdated plural of the word roof. It should read 'roofs' of course. Obviously got horses on the brain - hoofs and hooves.

Saw that Ken, I am glad we just had the Thunder and Lightning storm. My daughter lives in Liverpool and was out last night at a restaurant that has views right across Liverpool and the Mersey. She says that the lightning was visible in the sky from there and looked like the flashes from guns being fired in the old WW1 film footage.

As regards the rapidity of lightning flashes, as spectacular as they may have been, i suppose it was also momentarily a tad scary. A bit like one of those sudden and very loud rolls of thunder. Just for a split second you think, "Is this how it ends?"πŸ€”

outdated plural of the word roof.

I used 'brindle' for a dog and then tried tousled ( of hair) - she looked thro her tousled hair and said ' he is going to kill me' didnt like dishevelled either

and the person taking the statement just about blew a fuse ( ? fuze) - at least it shows I had a hand in this I said

and looked like the flashes from guns being fired in the old WW1 film footage.

The larksstill bravely singingfly. Scarce heard amid the guns below. - - - - oops sozza Nov 11th not 25th Dec
