Pendleside Hospice Festive Dingbats C/D 6Th January

Can anyone please help me with no 17?

It has the word HAWTHORNE written across the top with AWARD starting downwards from the first A, HERE down from the second H and NOW from the N.  A bit like this:-

     W              E              O

     A               R              W

     R               E

     D

Is it Nathaniel, Nigel Hawthorne? present? Award?

I just don't seem to "see" it but assume it's obvious because it doesn't appear that anyone has asked this already!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Tuvok but there is no "E" on the end of HAWTHORN (as a tree.)  It does seem the best idea though but the setter is quite meticulous and I don't think he would make such an obvious error......

(the here and now is the present )

Thanks Mally I'm not sure.  The setter is not known for mistakes...
