Negotiate a hostage exchange would be a good idea. They managed to repatriate POWs from German stalags years ago. Now they seem good for zilch except selling Christmas Cards.

As far as I'm aware there's no armed wing of the Red Cross, able to send in snatch squads.

Patently untrue. A  British POW incarcerated at Colditz was repatriated by the Red Cross during the War due to mental issues.It has been documented that other POW's from other camps 'during 'the war.

yup - Ma daydee had one - obviously schizophenic. Not instantaneous. He had heard voices - "George why are you so quuer?" and George answered the voice....

lAter that month Spangenburg - the doctors were messing together and it was lights out ao they were lying in their bunka  and a strangled ventriloquists voice rang out - John ( another doctor) - why are you so quuer?

now you ask - with peace in Poland ( they were conquered early on) what happened to  the Polish POWs in Germany ? well they stayed

Ma daydee met Michaelovsky-Bor ( 1000 ABers chorus Michaelovsky- whooooooo? in a standard whiney AB way) who had led the Warsaw uprising 1944. They negotiated POW status.

but what a young ABer squeals -happened to the French POWs? No great interest in Vichy and the events after la chute de France ( 1940)

some were and some werent as far as I  can see.

My father did not support faking  it for repatriation, and the one in Colditz starts off faking it but ends up in an asylum in England.

TheGermans pioneered the concept of prison camps and prison cities ( yup, Lvov was one - every resident was looked on as a prisoner) and now  look at Gaza - can anyone see a parallel

er.... it was irony rather than logic - I know women don't really do irony, ( see above) and mods ( ah bless them!) a fortiori  ( = they do irony even less, bless'em a bit more).
