What To Do (On My Own) For Three Days?
As you all probably know, I am alone,a bit frightened, and rather isolated here.
My two friends, who have been looking after me,since my breavement, are not back from their hols till Thursday.
So I now have 3 days to tolerate,in a sort of limbo, until I see them again on Thursday.
I shall not see anyone(as the neighbours don't call,)even though they know I am alone here (and don't drive)
Can anyone suggest what to do,to lessen the feeling of being totally cut off,and not seeing(or talking) to anyone.
You guys have been so good of late, any suggestions would be really helpful.

Thank You SO much for all your suggestions.
I have found this:~

I have subscribed to it,and will let you know how it turns out.
Hi Gordon, great to read your last post, sounds very encouraging.
Having read your posts I guess I can appreciate some of your dilemmas .....
I too am type 2 diabetes and can't really walk without my walker, when you say wheelchair do you mean you need someone to push or are you mobile under your own steam ?
Unfortunately being restricted like this mean 'getting out for a brisk walk' while very beneficial isn't sometimes practical - I wish I could walk more than I do, but it's just not possible 😟
I do know that being alone has its drawbacks, my husband died nearly four years ago, and while family and friends help out, I do spend a fair amount of time alone ....well not quite alone, I have the company of my dog and my cat and can't imagine being without them .....I realise this may not be possible but have you considered a pet of some description, even a feathered one ?
I'll leave you to ponder the 'practicalities' of the suggestion.....being on the other side of the world means I'm often here while the UK is sleeping, so if you feel like a chat in the middle of the night .....
seekeerz,
Yes, I need someone to push me in the wheelchair.Even putting the bin out has problems. My front gate is abour 800 feet from the front door.
I would love to have more cats (have had a few in my time),or a dog,but I am waiting to get into Sheltered Housing, and I don't think that they allow pets?
Going now to check on the pet situation,I will report back.
Nosey - with the bin situation speak to the council - they will arrange for you bin to be collected so you don't have to struggle.
Contact the local churches - you don't have to be a christian to attend - they do lunches and game afternoons and would also probably be able to collect you as well.
They may even do advise sessions - I am sure you should be getting some support in the way of a visitor or nurse helping you out.
Hi, like Redhelen I'd suggest contacting your local churches for info. as to what is available (you do NOT have to be a churchgoer). We're a very small church with only a handful of people 'doing it all' but we have an afternoon for 'Coffee, cake, a chat and a craft'. You don't have to want to chat or craft (there's a project to create a waterfall of poppies for this year's Remembrance day). Just turn up for the cuppa - we also operate a book exchange for anyone (some come from miles around) so you can sit and read if you want - and take the book home.
Other recent events have included a talk on 17thC medicine by a re-enactment chap who plays an army-surgeon and has collected lots of original 'tools' and in Feb. I and 2 other local writers are doing a 'Grown-up's Jackanory' one Sat. afternoon, reading-out our own books/stories - again coffee & cake provided.
I'm sure there will be similar around you and people willing to help to get you around. The U3A was mentioned by someone - good idea, as is local Adult Ed.. Local authority should have mobility bus assistance - we're a very country area and there is one here.
So please to see you coming across as so much more positive. :) x
So pleased to
Thank you for the BA, Gordon, very sweet of you ...I'm glad some of my ideas gave you some idea of directions you might explore.
I'm impressed with the number of pet-friendly places there are in the UK, this is something which is slowly taking off in many countries and is so important for the well-being of people going into them - I can't imagine having to part from my two, I'm planning on staying in my home as long as it's practical, but I'm not faced with some of the problems you're having to deal with.
Good luck with all your endeavours to make life easier for yourself, you're definitely on the right track 🤗🙂
