On the TV,there are several ads for various charities,saying that they can help you make your will, for free.
Do they really do this,and is it really free?
Or do they expect a donation,and how are the wills witnessed.
Any information(I want to make a will)would be most helpful.

You do it all online, they check it and then send it back to you to get it signed. They will also keep it for you for £10 a year so they deal with everything if you don't have anyone else to deal with it.
