Older Style Kindle Screen Repair

i have an older style kindle that is no longer sold.  As far as i remember, it's at least 9 years old, and it one of the ones that have the page turn that is a non-physical button at the side (pagepress?)

i think it's called a kindle voyage.

It now has a cracked scren, causing me problems with changing text size and skipping pages.  Can those screens get repaired?

It's certainly possible.  A new screen, ordered from China, needn't cost much more than a fiver, including delivery and import VAT.  (Annoyingly, AB's server blocks links to the relevant website.  See the last paragraph of my post at 1847 here to see what it is https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ChatterBank/Question1858072.html and then search for 'kindle voyager touch screen' on that site).

Fitting it is a rather fiddly task though:

So you'll either need to be good at such things or prepared to pay a repair shop (probably quite a lot) to do the job.

i have a specific reason for wanting the voyage rather than a newer model, so chrises answer might be my best bet.  I  do worry about battery ;ife tho in something so old (my current battery is "ok" ish)

bednobs, I had a battery replaced in one of my old Kindles - I think it cost about £20, supply and fit, at my local repair shop.  He'd never worked on an eReader before
