I only applied to see if my application form 'looked good'!, as I'm so out of practice applying for jobs. Whilst I like the sound of the job in itself, I knew there was no way I could take the job if I was offered it as it's too far for me to travel to/from. I feel guilty now if I withdraw my application. Should I feel guilty?

Don't feel guilty. It's better to withdraw your application now, rather than waste more of their time.

They said I have to wait for the next stage of my application, but they said I've passed the first stage.

Yes, withdraw it immediately. There's no point in wasting any more of their time. ( Of course you mau want interview practice but that would not be fair on them, or one one other candidate, in my view.

Anybody with experience of recruitment will have come across people who drop out for valid reasons or just time waste during the process. In the words of a lost friend it's no big deal. Better you hurry and be honest though as you could be stopping someoen who genuinely wants to be considered for the post.
