Im a 14 year old girl, 5 foot 1 and i weigh 10 and a bit stone. Is this overweight? i read stories in magazines and theyre all like 'i weighed 11 stone when i was 14 so i went to the doctor and he told me to lose weight' etc. I dont particularly think i look fat as such, but i know im bigger than my friends. What is the best way for me to diet? Any advice or help on this front would be great thanks xxx

but be careful dieting, esp at ur age, it doesent sound like ur overweight. the other solution is to exercise down at the gym, have an hour a day on the treadmill, and ull lose weight steadily by that.
Please don't go on any diets without going to have a word with your doctor. Your body is still developing, you need to be very careful that you get the right balance in your diet. You might find that in 6 months time you have a completely different body shape. Your doctor will look at all the factors that influence your weight, including your build, muscle to fat ratio, metabolism etc etc and advise you whether there is really any need to lose weight. If you do need to drop a few pounds, at your age it should be posssible to do this by making minor alterations to your diet and maybe getting more exercise. Above all though, remember that you are you, not your friends, not the people in the magazines, and you are fabulous just as you are!
What the hell? You are NOT Overweight! You asked this and we answered before here :- http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/Question48455.h tml Get it out of your head for god sake. You are too young to worry about your weight, go worry about something else such as your schoolwork. You are not overweight.
