Prior to giving his evidence, Bradshaw was telt by the Chair he was entitled to choose not to answer a question if he or his lawyer believed he might incriminate himself and the Chair would then decide if that refusal was reasonable.

yerss - and also the judge might warn the witness at the time ( which didnt occur  ) - and I thought he ( Wyn W - judgie baby) was gonna say -" and that is  our 5th amendment." He didnt. The common law rule predates the 5 th amendment and um er is the reason why the Americans inserted it ( they forgot) 1789 or whenever

instead he intoned - the common law rule against self-incrimination

and today - - I thought was Gareth jenkins, "why I said a crap program wasnt..." but may instead by  - why the post office failed to hand over documents. (70m of them)

BUT watch that channel !

covert recordings may also be produced showing P.O. knew much sooner ( like 10 y sooner). today only

I have laid in supplies of pop corn.

Steve Bradshaw ( yesterday)  was delayed from Nov 23 on account of... non production of documents

Seems it was Mandelson who was to blame, assuring Blair that it could be rolled out (and that failure to do so would have political disadvantage).  Wrong again mate.

"among them" was Mandelson; the media do like finding the biggest scapegoats they can.

Still, I don't feel much like making accusations about things as long ago as 1998, the problem was in its infancy.

the archived strean is here

Steve Bradshaw was 11  Jan after a paper dump of 4000 pages which had to be read overnight Nov 23- they werent

this was after Lisa Allen who was slaughtered

Prior to this, an email dump of 365 000 emails were found

Chris Jackson was summoned to explain what the hell was going on in the PO IT dept

PP, I just posted this link on another story - Alan Bates arguing in the FT that crowdfunding legal cases like that of the postmasters may now be illegal

- sorry if it's inaccessible

Question Author

P O Management really thought that over 100 postmasters had suddenly decided to turn to crime.

no I previously thought that there was a lot  out there and Hoeizon was nailing it for  once

BUT from Allen and Bradshaw, they held Horizon to be infallible ( even in the obvious evidence that it wasnt) and so any shortfall was fraud / false accounting

BUT after hours of popcorn

there is a record of the helpline telling  them to make entries to balance it oo-er !

AND there were audit trails which WOULD have acquitted the defendant which they P.O. knew, and never activated ( what?)
