Do you have a local Chamber of Trade and Commerce who keep a list of small businesses in your area? There could probably be a number of small companies who can't afford a full-time resident book keeper who would be happy to have somebody working flexibly for them at home on a "needs only" basis. On the logistics front you will preferably need a separate room big enough to hold your computer and a secure filing cabinet or two for storing clients' documents, and a phone/fax link.
I do it. I do book-keeping from home. I only have three clients but thats enough for what I want. I also do self assessments. Word of mouth is the best way. Tell everyone what you are planning on doing. You'd be surprised how often someone needs a book-keeper
Ive been thinking of working from home as a bookkeeper for ages...bored with working in an office.

I dont have any clients yet.

Intend to get SAGE...as its quite expensive and necessary it may kick me up the rrrrrs to go out and get some clients.

I have a limited company already set up.
