Can A Car Dealership Get Impatient With Me?

I've been to one car dealership three times and have yet to have a test drive. I only go to sit in the cars I like as, that's me! I like to take my time especially with the prospect of purchasing something so big, as it's taken at least a decade to save for a newer car and this time I want to buy one properly from a proper dealer. However, I get the impression the guys there think I'm not serious enough and when they ask me how long I've been looking, I say "6 months. I like to take my time". I just think they're sensing something suspicious with me. Am I right to take my sweet time?! 🤔

What do you think? Can I take as long as I like?  Or am I too sensitive?

I don't believe it is against the law for them to get impatient with you. Since they aren't profiting from your research I'd have thought it'd be expected.

TBH I'd have told you to go forth weeks ago, from what I've seen on here you have been an absolute nightmare. They or anyone can only tolerate so much. To them you look like a messer and even if they sell you a car they think it'll be endless agro for them.

Yes - too sensitive. take the plunge! Most cars these days are pretty good, seeking perfection takes forever.

Of course you can take your time.

Do I think you are being sensitive- yes

Sre they getting fed up with you- probably.

Do you just go there and sit in a car? If so then they probably think you're a time waster.

Don't just sit in the cars- walk round them and kick the tyres too to show you are a serious and knowledgeable potential purchaser.

Thank you everyone.  I always ignore the nay sayers anneasquith - it's all insecurity with them anyway.  Thank you guys again xx  I'll let you know when I've bought a car!
