I think the most popular software for this application is Microsoft's 'Taxsaver' series. The most recent of these is Taxsaver99.

Try the Inland Revenue website and its section on internet filing of self-assessment tax returns. You can download their software free to calculate your tax liability (income and capital gains tax)
