Among those criticising Carlson, known for his inflammatory and xenophobic language on his former prime time US show, was former US Secretary of State Clinton.

Speaking to MSNBC, she said: “Well, it shows me what I think we’ve all known: he’s what’s called a ‘useful idiot.’

“I mean, if you actually read translations of what’s being said on Russian media, they make fun of him. I mean, he’s like a puppy dog.”

“After having been fired from so many outlets in the United States, I would not be surprised if he emerges with a contract with a Russian outlet.”

Putin's spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, has claimed that Carlson was chosen for the interview because "he has a position which differs" from other English-language media. (You bet!) 

Anyone interested ? Carlson has been mooted as a possible running-mate for Trump btw.

The objection is to the idea that this will be an objective insightful interview. It will have been anything it.

Boris Nadezhdin's candidature for the "election " in Russia has been barred. The question is why when this candidate was never going to win anyway? Would have given proceedings a veneer of respectability? I have my own idea about that. 

Today, US Congress will vote on a separate Bill for aid for Ukraine. 
It was sobering to see Oklahoma Republican Senator James Lankford getting up in the senate to declare how Trump republicans had "threatened to destroy me" if he voted for the border bill. What is the US coming to?

No-one is saying he should be silenced.

It just makes sense to understand that Carlson is not a serious journalist, and Putin is not going to take part in anything that isn't going to be pro Russia, anti-nato propaganda.

Carlson is no idiot by the way. He knows exactly what he's doing and why.
